Common Violations

Below are some common violations that Code Enforcement officers often observe and address. If you observe these, or other violations, in your neighborhood, please report the issues via the City's non-emergency reporting system, Report Rio Rancho

Debris

Properties should be kept free of unsightly accumulation of litter, garbage, and/or junk, which is likely to become unsanitary, offensive, or create disease.

Vegetation

Weeds and grass over 12 inches in height are a violation. Property owners and tenants are responsible for keeping their lawns mowed to the edge of the roadway.

Inoperable Vehicle

Any vehicle that is inoperable, wrecked, dismantled, used for storage, and is not covered and stored on the property.

Signage

Signs are not permitted on utility poles or in medians. Signs must be posted behind all sidewalks. Signs are not allowed in the public right-of-way.

Illegal Dumping

Illegal dumping is the improper disposal of waste in public or private areas, such as parks and rural properties. Illegal dumping impacts the environment and our community and is a growing problem.
