Responsibilities

The City Clerk serves as the Clerk to the Governing Body, Election Administrator and Chief Records Custodian for the City of Rio Rancho.

The City Clerk plays an instrumental role in providing citizens access to their local government, in an impartial and professional manner by:

• Processing public records requests;
• Maintaining and archiving city records - Access City Records Here Responsibilities;
• Registration and licensing of businesses;
• Preparation of Governing Body meeting notices, agendas, and minutes;
• Overseeing legislative affairs, to include processing, enacting and codifying city legislation;
• Parliamentary procedures and vote tallying, and
• Administering municipal elections for city elective offices and ballot initiatives.
