Keith Riesberg started his role as city manager for the city of Rio Rancho on April 22, 2013. At the time of his appointment, Riesberg had 17 years of local government experience, serving 12 of those years as a city manager or city administrator.
Riesberg has a Bachelor’s of Science in Community & Regional Planning from Iowa State University (Go Cyclones!), and a Masters of Public Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
He has been a member of ICMA (International City/County Management Association) since 1998, and achieved credential manager (CM) status in 2009.
As Rio Rancho's city manager, Riesberg works with the Mayor and City Councilors to develop goals and objectives for the city. Once these are established, he works with senior staff and city employees to accomplish these objectives. Riesberg also serves as a community liaison, working with various groups and organizations, to accomplish the desired directives.
